In 1976, the story of Krug Rosé came to life. The fifth generation of the Krug family, inspired by the non-conformist spirit of Joseph Krug, created an innovative Rosé. This daring Champagne, created according to the House's famous art of blending, is offered every year, leading to the first Édition of Krug Rosé, a distinctive Champagne that surprisingly combines finesse and substance.

Krug Rosé 28ème Édition represents the 28th year in which this dream has come true. This edition is based on the 2016 vintage, a year marked by weather conditions so extreme as to seem a caricature of the climatic pendulum. Spring was extremely wet, with +70% more rainfall than normal between April and June, making work in the vineyard difficult and increasing disease pressure. However, after flowering, the weather turned favourable, allowing the vineyard to recover, and ending with a heat wave at the apex of ripening. The harvest, which lasted from 9 September to 2 October, produced healthy grapes and wines of great expression and character, regardless of the variety or origin of the grapes.

Krug Rosé 28ème Édition is a composition that brings together wines with contrasting profiles, creating a harmonious balance between substance and finesse. The white base wines bring great elegance, a refined structure and notes of red and yellow fruits with a distinct freshness. At the same time, Pinot Noir grapes, traditionally macerated and sourced from plots in Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, add colour, substance and spice to the final blend.

Its subtle pale pink colour promises elegance at first glance. On the nose, aromas of dog rose, ham, mulberry, redcurrant, peony, pepper and pink grapefruit emerge. On the palate, delicate flavours of honey, citrus and dried fruit are revealed, with a long finish enhanced by its fine bubbles, rounding up the experience.

The Krug Maison interprets the extraordinary adventure of Joseph Krug, a determined man, without compromises, who understood that Champagne essence is the delight itself. He wanted to offer his Clients the best of the Champagne delight, every year, regardless of the climate change. Joseph Krug founded the first and unique Maison able to offer a high quality Champagne. In 1843, when his son was still too young to manage the Maison de Champagne, Joseph Krug wrote down his principles and passed them on to the Maison in a cherry-red leaflet. That leaflet is not only of historic importance for the Maison, but also a a man's last will embracing his family and the Champagne region as well. The Maison Krug's philosophy is about grapes selection from single parcels, expressing their own features and soil characteristics; no hierarchy is needed and all vines are taken into consideration, sometimes even parcels as small as a garden. The Maison is looking for stron characters and a contrast between grapes coming from different lots. Krug is the only Maison de Champagne welcoming and representing all vines in excellent wines.
